i’m terrible at keeping a blog.

I’m also terrible at keeping a WHAT’S NEW page on my website. I get to it….but probably by the time your coffee is cold and you found another gray hair. Or hairs, who knows. Or your children have grown up or it’s suddenly summer and when you woke up it was winter. Hi. Is that a pimple? This page on my site is sort of turning into a scrapbook for myself as I’m not sure anyone reads it…..well…….ever. I realized something valuable during the months of lockdown pandemic hell. I realized that I write songs and perform and make up absurd stories and characters for MYSELF. To make myself feel better and more alive. I like to share these with you or to whoever may listen. I will still do it if no one is listening. But let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater as Christopher Durang the playwright said. Look, I’m as hungry for validation as the next person. And I’m hungry right now it seems. Maybe someone will read this and say, yeah, me too. Let’s make a grilled cheese and talk about our shit.
In scrapbook news I played a SUPERFUN show at Mockingbird lounge in September for Manor Records Songbird Showcase. I got to play 2 sets and it was the day after my bday which was a treat. I’m going to do a show around my birthday EVERY YEAR NOW. It’s more cake for me.
I played mostly figure skating songs in the first set. The ubertalented songwriter/singer/improviser Danielle Anderson (Danielle Ate the Sandwich) sang + improvised with me on “The Last Skate”……a duet between Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan in the locker room before their freeskate in the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. This is fictional. Just in case anyone’s lawyers are reading.

Aw the fabulous Danielle and Me!

Okay look it would be silly of me not to mention my two solid rocks. My two sisters of movement, my two one nite stands who’ve been with me for so many stands at this point could we be married? You’ll never know.
Dawn Yoder and Tracy Flowers! They help me fulfill my triptych triangle formation destiny of performance art. I love them.

And HELLOOOO this mockingbird show was really special for me in the two set thing cause I have a lot of guitar songs in my oevre. So for my second set, I cranked out some classics and the wonderful Fritz Hutchison drummed with me (and Tracy sang) on a few numbers.

THIS BLOG KEEPS GOING! It’s not a blog. Remember myspace? I loved that site.
This is a WHAT’S NEW page which maybe I will change to WHAT HAPPENED.

Also played a sweet show at Minibar in October with The Black Creatures!
They’re a rad kc band if you didn’t know.
Here’s a video of “Lion” from the show.

What’s next?
WORKING ON MUSICAL SONGS ABOUT MY 90’s FIGURE SKATERS AND THEIR MOTHERS.
Writing is hard. It’s nice once you’ve done it. 10 minutes. I live by a 10 minute rule. Try it for ten minutes and see what happens. That’s how I managed to do this blog. You’re welcome. Or maybe you’re not. Fine, YOU do it!
Also like everyone else i’m working a dayjob but it’s boring to talk about. Actually i’m boring myself a little right now. Go get yourself a snack. vegan mac? almonds? an apple? ALL three cause I live large. Give yourself a hug. See you at the next post when your daughter is in college! Check the social meds for more nonsense!
